Advocacy

AOSW and its members know how to champion the cause of psychosocial oncology. As advocates, AOSW and its members are dedicated to increasing awareness about the social, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs of cancer patients through conferences, research, writing, workshops, and lectures.

AOSW's commitment to advocacy includes the Board of Director's Advocacy Committee. This committee is dedicated to providing education to membership on political process, activism and advocacy opportunities. In addition, the committee serves to advise the President and Board of Directors on issues regarding health care and cancer.

People with Cancer and Families:

  • The Oncology Social Work Toolbox, a collaboration between AOSW, ONS, NASW and the National Coalition of Cancer Survivorship.

  • Oncology social workers provide counseling and other services which can reduce stress for cancer survivors and their caregivers through all phases of cancer treatment. Click here for a copy of our brochure that describes the ways oncology social workers advocate for people everyday.
