In this webinar presented by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, participants will learn more about the different types of blood cancers, the psychosocial impact of a blood cancer diagnosis, the role of the social worker and nurse as members of the treating health care team, methods of educating patients about clinical trial participation, and resources for patients living with a blood cancer and their caregivers. This webinar is recommended for social workers at the beginner and intermediate levels and other health care professionals involved in the care of patients with hematologic malignancies.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the presentation, the participant will be able to:

  1. Describe the different blood cancers
  2. Describe the psychosocial impact of different blood cancer diagnoses.
  3. Explain the role of the social worker and nurse as members of the health care team
  4. Educate patients about clinical trial participation
  5. List resources for patients with blood cancers and how to access them
