Together Beyond Conference
There is something special about being together as an oncology social work community. I’m still riding a bit of a conference high. I’m feeling inspired by what I learned, energized by the conversations I had, and honored to be part of such a dedicated and compassionate community.
While conference may be behind us, the connection and sense of community we share through AOSW continues. Whether you were with us at conference, or weren’t able to attend this year, you are an important part of this community. One of the things I love most about AOSW is that our connections extend far beyond those few days together. So, how do we keep that connection and that feeling of community going?
Our community also plays an important role in our shared resilience. The work we do asks us to continually hold space for uncertainty, loss, hope, and resilience, often all at the same time. We hold space for patients and families through some of the most challenging moments of their lives, while also celebrating milestones, hope, and survivorship. Whether we are connecting in person or through a screen; through our SIG meetings, State Representative meetings, committees, or other AOSW activities, we have a community of colleagues who understand the work, share our experiences, and remind us that we are not doing this alone. Our connection to one another is part of what builds our resilience.
We have some exciting opportunities coming up to continue these connections, nurture our sense of community, and keep the spirit of conference going throughout the year.
Keep the Learning Going
Our upcoming AOSW Mini Conference on November 4 from 11:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. ET will feature four presentations from this year’s meeting, giving us another opportunity to connect with great content and presenters.
If you weren’t able to join us for our annual meeting, this is a wonderful opportunity to experience some of what you missed. And for those who were there, you know how difficult it was to choose between multiple incredible sessions happening at the same time! The Mini Conference gives you another chance to hear a presentation you may have missed.

Stay Connected with Your AOSW Board
We’ll also have an upcoming AOSW Board Town Hall, December 1 at 2 p.m. ET providing an opportunity to hear directly from the Board, learn more about what’s happening within AOSW, ask questions and stay engaged with the work of our organization.
For me, our conference was a reminder that AOSW is more than an annual event. We are a community connected by the work we do, the experiences we share, and our commitment to supporting one another.
