From the AOSW Education Committee

As we start off the year, the Education Committee is excited to share a few updates!

A friendly reminder that nominations for scholarships and awards are open through March 1– help us recognize exceptional work in oncology social work and expand access to conference participation for our members.

Webinars:

Explore AOSW’s webinar series–live and on-demand sessions created for oncology social workers. Members are invited to join upcoming webinars, suggest topics, or submit proposals to share your expertise with the community.

Do you have a great idea for a webinar?  Whether you’re a seasoned presenter who missed the abstract deadline or a first-time speaker eager to share your insights, we want to hear from you. Please click here to complete the webinar proposal form for our Webinar Subcommittee to review.

Annual Conference:

We were energized by the overwhelming response to this year’s AOSW conference, with more than 100 abstract submissions for 52 CE session time slots. The time, thought, and expertise reflected in these proposals highlight the strength of our community.

To ensure that as many important topics and voices as possible are included, a record number of poster presentations were accepted, creating space for meaningful work that could not fit within the CE schedule. This reflects the wide range of interests and ideas being shared across oncology social work.

The sessions submitted reflect a wide range of emerging and ongoing themes in oncology social work, including innovative clinical practice; family and caregiver support; equity and access; AI and virtual care; meaning-making and grief; and workforce resilience and leadership, among others.

We’re excited to introduce our keynote speakers and share their voices and expertise with our community: Michelle Ferretti, LCSW, OSW-C, delivering the keynote, and Joy Malbrough, PhD, LMSW, offering the closing keynote.

We look forward to learning, connecting, and deepening our practice together at the conference. More details will be shared as they become available, and we look forward to seeing you in Portland!
