Get Your Rocky Mountain High
This year’s Annual Conference is being held in Denver, Colorado, an amazing city with the heartbeat of old westerns, new generation and some of the best libations, food and enjoyment to be had!
Colorado is beautiful in late May and early June, with warm temps and a light breeze at night. The Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel sits on the east side of the main hub on Denver’s Downtown 16th Street Mall. This is an open air mall that spans multiple blocks. You can stroll or ride the RTD Free Mall bus up and down the mall. There, you will find shops from small boutiques to large department stores. For those not looking to shop, the mall also hosts a movie theatre, bowling alley and many dining experiences. Adventures and sights abound on the 16th street mall!
For those brave and ready for some night life, there is the famous Larimer Square and Market Street on the west side of the mall. These streets boast not only the most hip of hipsters, but also great eats, night clubs and libations that are found only in the Denver area. The Rockies Stadium is close by as well as Union Station, which was recently remodeled and hosts one of Denver’s oldest watering holes, The Cruise Room, that opened the day after prohibition ended!
The heart of Denver, and a short cab ride away is the arts district, which includes the Denver Modern Arts Museum, Denver Museum of Nature and Science, and the Children’s Museum of Denver. Each museum hosts a breathtaking view of the architecture of Denver.
Just outside the city and close to the base of the Rocky Mountains is Golden, the birthplace of Coors Brewery. Along with a free tour of the brewery, you can enjoy a picture in a cowboy hat made from a Coors box, learn how Coors was born, enjoy a little reprieve from the May heat and wet your whistle with free beer at the end.
If you feel like exploring the natural views and fresh air of Colorado, head further up the mountain to Boulder. Here you will find some of the most breathtaking views of the Denver area, the wide expanses of trails for waking, hiking, mountain biking and other activities that are sure to make everyone excited about enjoying the Colorado sun.
Denver is a great city to visit in May. Public transportation is abundant and easily accessible. Transportation around the Mile High City is quick and easy. Take advantage of Lyft, Uber and taxis when planning a trip outside of the Denver Metro area to continue your exploration of Colorado.
We look forward to seeing you in what John Denver called the “Rocky Mountain High!”
