Who are we and what benefits have we been working on for YOU?
By Jill Randall (chair) and the Membership Committee
Did you know that AOSW has over 1,000 active members across 49 states in the U.S. as well as Canada and Israel? Some members are brand new to oncology social work, and others have been practicing in the field for over 30 years. We span practice settings including hospitals, clinics, home care and hospice agencies, community wellness programs, patient advocacy organizations, and others. This is indeed a rich group of members!
A growing, diverse and engaged membership is key for a professional association to thrive and provide the most benefit to its members. AOSW’s Membership Committee is dedicated to recruiting and retaining a strong and vibrant membership. Our committee members include:
- Jane Dabney
- Amy DePaolo
- Jennifer Dunn
- Camille Faunda
- Susan Fugett
- Sara Goldberger
- Kelly Hendershot
- Kim Rabago
- Jill Randall
- Jessie Russell
- Lauren Sanders
- Leah Walton
We’ve been working on some exciting initiatives that will benefit members. First, we created a letter that members can use to request financial support from their institution for membership dues. The letter describes how membership in AOSW benefits not just the member but also their patients, families, and institution. Members can draw from the language in this letter to create their own that fits with their specific situation. Download the letter.
Second, recognizing the value of mentorship for professional development, career progression, job satisfaction, and developing the next generation of oncology social work leaders, we are excited to relaunch AOSW’s mentorship program. The program is self-service, offering members the opportunity to search for and connect with a mentor via the AOSW website. Stay tuned for details on how to participate as a mentor, mentee, or both!
The Membership Committee is here to serve YOU! Please connect with us via email at info@aosw.org if you have any questions or ideas about recruiting and retaining members or enhancing member benefits.
Sincerely,
Jill Randall (chair) and the Membership Committee
