Demystifying the Publication Process: Writing and Reviewing for Peer Review Journals in Psychosocial Oncology (JPO 1 of 6)

Karen Kayser
Wednesday, December 15, 2021
1:00 - 2:00 PM Eastern Time

Most emerging scholars and practitioners receive little training on how to write for journals and how to review for peer-reviewed journals.  Even seasoned professionals may wonder about the publication process and what reviewers are looking for in a publishable manuscript. This workshop series aims to build skills in writing scholarly manuscripts and reviewing other authors’ scholarship.
This webinar is the first in a workshop series entitled, How to Write and Review Manuscripts for Peer-reviewed Journals. The presenter will take the participants through the publishing process, from initial writing of a manuscript, submission to a journal and through the revise-and-resubmit phase on to publication. Subsequent webinars will delve deeper into the various elements of a well-written manuscript, how to write for various audiences, how to use validated checklists for reviewing, ethical considerations, and more.

After participating in this webinar, the attendee will:

  1. Understand how the publication process works from manuscript submission to final decision and publication;
  2. Identify the specific components that editors look for in a well-written manuscript;
  3. Assess a review of a manuscript, using a validated checklist.
