I look forward to serving as the AOSW Education Director and I thank you, the membership, for giving me this opportunity. As I am writing this article, the newness of 2017 is still here—I haven’t even written my first check and put 2016 on it yet—so it is in the of spirit of what’s new in 2017 for AOSW that I excitedly share a combined vision come to life.

Our immediate past Education Director, Christina Bach, and AOSW Member Services Manager, Jordan Burghardt, brought to the Board of Directors an idea to provide members with useful and accessible information to enhance leadership and professional development. As a result, AOSW will implement its Leadership and Professional Development Webinar Series, which will offer free prerecorded presentations by content specialists:

1. Billing for the Oncology Social Worker,
2. Oncology Interdisciplinary Teams and & How They Work, 
3. Abstract Writing 101, and
4. Training the Future Workforce: How to be a Field Instructor.

Although these presentations do not offer Continuing Education Units (CEUs), they are sure to enhance the skills set of our membership. We look forward to offering more of these member benefits webinars in the future. Please be on the lookout via your email and SWON for the dates for these webinars.
