Around AOSW: Notes From Our 2016 Annual Conference
As many of you know from having attended our 2016 Annual Conference in Tampa this past May, or from hearing about it through AOSW’s many avenues of communication, it was a terrific conference—full of opportunities to learn, connect, network and relax amongst new friends and old.

2017 AOSW 33rd Annual Conference: Call for Abstracts
If you have not already done so, please consider submitting an abstract for the 2017 AOSW 33rd Annual Conference, being held in Denver, Colorado. The abstract center will remain open until 11:59 p.m. (Central Time) on September 12. Apropos of the mountainous location, the theme for the conference is “Oncology Social Work: Elevating Compassion, Experience and Vision.”
Reflections on a Conference: My First AOSW Annual Conference
The day to leave for the 2016 AOSW Annual Conference finally arrived. It would be my first actual vacation since March 2012. I mean, I’ve had a couple of maternity leaves since then, but I don’t think those qualify as vacations. I was so eager to enjoy a relaxing six plus-hour plane ride to the East coast, followed by six full days of quiet without the family.
Research Report: Post-Conference Research Institute
In May, immediately following its Annual Conference in Tampa, Florida, AOSW held its first “Post-Conference Research Institute.” The goal was to bridge the gap between research and practice, and bring together researchers and practitioners interested in research to discuss research needs, ideas and projects.
Social Media at the 2016 Annual Conference
The 2016 AOSW 32nd Annual Conference in Tampa (#AOSW2016 for the social media savvy) has come and gone, but the reactions live on through the presence of social media. Here is a sample of some of the tweets that went out about the conference—you can feel the energy of the conference.

Director's Report: Communications
In January 2016 I began my three-year term as Communications Director of AOSW, and these last six months have been the start of a most excellent adventure! I can honestly say without reservation that AOSW’s Board of Directors has a keen eye on the future of this organization, the trends in health care and the role of the oncology social worker. But what is equally important is not only the guidance of the Board, but our ability to communicate with you, our members, and to create opportunities for you to communicate amongst yourselves. It is my experience that AOSW excels on all of these fronts.
