Sunny North Carolina is Calling
In years past, members have found it helpful to have a ballpark idea of the cost of the annual conference. The three-day, full conference averages around $460. That does not include air fare. We encourage everyone to register early to get the best discounts and consider finding a roommate to cut some costs! Email Andrea Ward at AOSW headquarters for assistance. I strongly recommend you check out “AOSW Conference on a Budget.” There will be two no-cost luncheons: Wednesday’s “Medical Aid in Dying” and Thursday’s ACS Quality of Life lecture.
The hotel, the Raleigh Marriott City Center, is centrally located to all the best the city has to offer. Fitness Center and golf bag storage are complimentary. High-speed internet access in the guest rooms is $11.95/day plus tax, on-property self-parking is $12/day.
Do you know that AOSW offers scholarships for the Annual Conference? Through our generous members and with help from our annual silent auction, AOSW offers 6-8 member scholarships to defray the cost of the conference! We will share more information in the next few months and updates are available on our website.
For many of us, the annual conference is a chance to network with other social workers, rejuvenate our sense of learning and find lifetime friends and connections. I remember being nervous that I wouldn’t know anyone at my first annual conference in Baltimore. I was a new mom, often covered in “spit up” but yearning to connect with other like-minded social workers—and I did. Attending that conference was one of the best things I did for my career. I had the opportunity to bond with amazing mentors and friends who helped guide me in my profession. I hope many of you will plan to attend AOSW 2020 and know that it’s an incredibly humbling, warm, intelligent and fun group!
