AOSW is holding its first Research Institute on May 7, 2016, immediately following the Annual Conference, in Tampa, Florida.
The Research Institute is specifically for PhD researchers and MSW level oncology social workers interested in research. This will be a one-day institute, where participants will meet others with similar interests, attend workshops and mini-lectures to advance their skills, and receive mentoring as they present and discuss current research topics, ideas and challenges in oncology social work with other established leaders in the field. Drs. Julianne Oktay, AOSW Research Director, and Brad Zebrack, Professor of Social Work at the University of Michigan, will serve AOSW as the Chair and Co-Chair, respectively, for the institute.
Following the institute, a white paper will be created on the topic of Research in Oncology Social Work and disseminated to AOSW members and possibly others interested in oncology social work. The Research Institute is supported with funding from Medivation and Genentech.
