As my year as AOSW President comes to a close, I am filled with excitement for the future of our organization and our membership. With new leadership already in place and moving full steam ahead we are positioned to continue to grow, excel and lead in the field of psychosocial oncology. I move on with confidence in the leadership of your new President Catherine Credeur, LMSW, OSW-C, and President-Elect Tara J. Schapmire, PhD, MSSW, CSW, OSW-C, FNAP.
My father had a plaque on his desk at work that read: “I worked all my life to get there and when I got there, I realized there was no there!” My years as President-Elect and President have shown me the truth of this saying. No matter how much we accomplish, what goals we set, projects we initiate or services we provide, there will always be a need to do more, accomplish more and provide more because we are and will continue to be a growing, thriving, moving organization. As membership grows, as oncology care changes and the scope of care we provide expands, AOSW will continue to meet these ever-changing demands and move forward, evolving as needed and rising to whatever challenges we face as an organization and a profession.
