Special Interest Group Announcement: New Research SIG (SWORG) Formed
A new Special Interest Group (SIG) for AOSW members who are interested in research has formed. The SIG, to be known as SWORG (Social Work Oncology Research Group), will be chaired by Elizabeth A. Rohan, who works at the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and is a member of the current Research Committee. Unlike the Research Committee, which is a small group of experienced researchers, the new group will be open to all AOSW members who are interested in research.
This new SIG will create avenues for oncology social work professional development through knowledge of and involvement in research. It will also facilitate dissemination of research findings and current research opportunities, provide opportunities for members to identify their research interests, needs and ideas, and enhance opportunities for collaboration in research projects, presentations and panels.
Those interested in joining the new Research SIG (SWORG) should login to the AOSW website, and update their member profile in the Member Resources section. Select "View/Edit AOSW Profile", and make SIG selections under the "Demographics" tab. Members may belong to as many SIGs as they wish.
For assistance or with questions, contact Jordan Burghardt at AOSW Headquarters (Jburghardt@aosw.org) or Elizabeth Rohan (erohan@cdc.gov).
